Article Title - Message From Douglas
by Douglas James Cottrell
To understand the Law of Attraction and Manifestation, you must first understand how the mind works. There is intuition and there is intellect: the Contemplative Mind and the Rational Mind. The contemplative mind encompasses all of the intuitive abilities that each of us possesses. It is the most powerful aspect of mind. Many (if not most) of us have had the experience of knowing when someone we loved was in difficulty, although they may have been many miles away. Without any logical or rational reason for doing so, we go to that person in difficulty because "we just know." In a crisis situation such as this, an invisible communication is taking place between minds; an exchange of mental messages. We call this ability telepathy. Telepathy is a knowing that reaches out across time and space from one mind to another (or perhaps to many other minds at the same time). It is how the Deep Trance Meditation works, for during the meditation, the mind reaches out to connect with the mind of the client, even if that client is on the other side of the planet. It is not bound by time or space. Rather it reaches out beyond our conscious thoughts. It is the process by which prayer and meditation work. It is the process by which spiritual healing works. It is the process by which clairvoyance works. It amalgamates all of the spiritual abilities. Telepathy, in short, is the source for the Law of Attraction and Manifestation to work.
According the Law of Attraction and Manifestation, what you pray for you receive. What is prayer? Little more than a thought or expectation held in the mind. What you think about all the time, therefore, is what you create in your life, because telepathically you are communicating this message to other minds. The real secret is that each and every soul mind is connected to every other at all times. We may believe that our minds are individual, separate and distinct, but in fact they form a collective consciousness in constant telepathic communication. Clairvoyance, clairaudience and clairsentience are all examples of this.
To use this ability successfully, and to manifest what you want in your life, it is first necessary to focus the mind on what you want, not what you don't. For example, if a co-worker is leaving the office due to incompatibility, you might be thinking negative thoughts about them, and worrying that they may be replaced with someone who is hard to get along with. The Law of Attraction and Manifestation will bring you what you expect. Instead, vividly visualize the new co-worker in your mind's eye as attractive, hard-working, easy to get along with, and a person who would make you feel enthusiastic about coming to work every day. Keep these images in front of your mind every time you think of the situation on the job. If necessary, write these ideas down and put it on the wall or the fridge, as a reminder. Every time you think about the new person coming to your work environment, send out a mental "help wanted" or "position available" ad in your thoughts. See an attractive, delightful, intelligent, co-operative co-worker in your mind's eye while you send this telepathic message. Remember: a co-worker already exists who is looking for the exact same environment you wish to work in. All he or she needs is to find the way to it. Your telepathic message will attract them. The path this person may take to get to this job may be mysterious and seemingly incoherent, but the different connections they make, the decisions they make, and the people they meet will have been influenced by your visualization and telepathic thoughts directing them to their new job and new friends.
A SKEPTIC'S EXPERIENCE WITH DOUGLAS
A Canadian-based author, who has followed Douglas' career for three decades, relates the following humorous story about an experience a skeptic had with Douglas and the DTM.
When Douglas was younger, he would do three or four sessions a day, sometimes to a length of 1:45 each. At this stage of his life, a typical reading lasts just over an hour. The Conductor gives Douglas specific suggestions not merely to wake up, but to increase respiration, heart rate, blood flow, etc., to levels approximating normal. Nonetheless, it is not a fun process, and history may well note (if interest in the DTM process continues to grow and more research is done) that Cottrell's body has reached the level of a professional athlete's, handling daily shocks and changes to core systems that might seriously damage another. When Douglas wakes up, he not only has no memory of what was said, but he may have in his head images from the reading that make no conscious sense to him, much the way we might awaken from a dream with only the very last bit stuck in our heads.
For example, during one of the only times in Douglas' exceptionally long career that he attempted to use a speakerphone to deliver a live real-time session to someone across the globe, something rather odd happened. The recipient of the session was a highly successful TV producer from Los Angeles, who, ironically, revealed himself to be truer to that particular stereotype than Douglas is to the one that shadows his own calling. The LA fellow not only assumed that he was able to handle on the spot any situation that might arise, but, unknown to Douglas and his Conductor, he had not bothered to read any of the material on the deep trance process which had been couriered to him the day before. After all, what could be complicated about dealing with just another fortune teller...?
So the session was started in real-time (after Douglas was put under) over the phone with the client having no concept of the DTM, or the dynamic he was about to be involved in. "Doug, tell me something about health," said the client, who, the taped record will show, insisted with ever-increasing desperation on calling Cottrell "Doug" as the session progressed, even as it became ever so clear that he really was not actually talking to "Doug" at all).
"The question is not specific. What would you have us do?" came the response.
"Come on, Doug. There must be something you can say." At this point, the Conductor broke in, and diplomatically directed the sleeping Cottrell to scan the physical form, locating the area of the most stress, discussing the problem and then offering a solution. Following the usual pause, Douglas, in trance immediately began discussing in the most minute detail the client's prostate gland, its size, colour, shape, blood flow, etc. The degree of detail would have made even a urologist squeamish. To borrow a 1960s expression that is not nearly as popular as it once was, the client, having no understanding of the power or scope of the DTM, "freaked out," and immediately tried to change the topic by interrupting over the speakerphone.
"Hey, now, Doug! Wait a second! I have this other medical condition that is very unusual. Everyone knows about it. What is it?"
"One second, we will examine," said Cottrell, and another long pause followed. "Indeed," said Cottrell in trance, "we find that from time to time there would be a restriction in blood flow to those areas of the brain, occipital lobe, medulla oblongata [ED: many more medical terms followed, relating specifically to brain components] resulting in what would be considered a slowing of the heart beat, respiration also, affecting ultimately that of the optical nerve, causing the effect of "seeing stars." If this condition would be allowed to develop without intervention, in the full course, within a matter of mere moments, the body would lose awareness and consciousness in a fairly sudden and dramatic manner..." At this point, for reasons that have never been fully understood, the client began to literally scream into his phone at the other end of the connection: "Doug, never mind all that! Just give me the name of the condition! Everyone knows the name! Everyone knows that I have this! JUST GIVE ME THE NAME! THE NAME!"
It is worth repeating that Douglas in DTM is the most relaxed, patient, and in-control conversationalist most of us will encounter in our lifetimes. Yelling at him when he is in DTM is not likely to elicit much of a response. In this case, the reading merely started over from the top, almost as though it were playing back a tape of itself. "We find that from time to time, there would be a restriction in blood flow to those areas of the brain...." This instant replay was way too much for this client who, it must be recalled, had no concept of what he had gotten himself into (yet another reason why Douglas now refuses to do live, over-the-phone DTM sessions) and he promptly hung up.
The Conductor immediately gave to Douglas the suggestions to end the trance in the normal way, and awake. When Douglas did finally awaken, he looked at the Conductor and asked quizzically, "Why do I have the word Narcolepsy going round and round in my head?"

SEND YOUR LOVING THOUGHTS TO THIS MAN
A few weeks ago we received a heart-breaking email from a young man from New Jersey. He asked us to appeal to the spiritual forces on behalf of his dear friend, Gokhan, who now lies in a hospital in Ankara, Turkey. Gokhan was in a car accident in 2006, and he has been unable to move or speak since then. As you read this, and look at his photo, we ask that you spend a moment and concentrate on his name and his image and visualize him strong, vibrant, and healthy, getting up from his hospital bed and walking again.

MEDITATION ADVICE FROM DOUGLAS
Q: What is the difference between meditation and visualization?
A: This is a good question. When the neophyte approaches meditation and visualization, it is easy to confuse the two - especially when you factor in Guided Meditation, which may include visualization. My experience in the use of meditation has been the development of the intuitive skills of the mind. This includes telepathy, clairvoyance, remote viewing, mind projection, astral travel and finding a path in the great beyond to the spiritual dimensions and God Amighty. Meditation is more than just a mental practice of becoming relaxed and sitting in quiet contemplation. It is a state of mind. When you relax the body and distract your conscious mind, you naturally enter a state of altered consciousness in which you lose track of time, and the subtle aspects of your mind come forward. This can happen without you even trying: driving a long distance, walking along the beach, taking a shower, or doing some work in the garden. When you feel calm and detached, your rational mind engaged in some task, your consciousness shifts slightly and your intution, inspiration and creative energy natually emerge. It is a natural state to be in. When we go to sleep at night we naturally enter it and we dream. Meditation is, therefore the environment in which all the spiritual gifts function.
Visualization, on the other hand, is a process where the mind produces symbols - for the language of the mind is pictoral, not verbal. Have you ever seen two people who speak different languages try to communicate with one another? It is through pictures, images, even miming actions. These symbols communicate with the subconscious mind to produce some desired result. Developing a vision in your mind's eye communicates to the higher levels of consciousness something you want to happen in the physical world. Held in the mind and repeated, it is, therefore, a form of prayer. It is like planting a seed in your subconscious mind. In time, it will develop in your life. What you hold in your mind will become manifest in your life - and in the lives of others.
