Intuitive Healing: Transforming Matter with Thought

After witnessing progress in Cheri-Anne's health, through alternative therapies, such as massage and chiropractic, Douglas and Karen began to investigate other unorthodox forms of healing. They decided to remain open to all modalities and all kinds of healing, regardless of how esoteric it may seem. In the early 1970s, Douglas and Karen had befriended Anglican minister Rev. Alex Holmes, who resided in Michigan. Not only was Rev Holmes a practicing minister, he was also a practitioner of an ancient type of spiritual healing called the Laying On Of Hands. Douglas and Karen began holding weekly sessions in their home with Rev Homes laying hands on Cheri-Anne, and their friends and loved ones as well. Fascinated with this type of healing, Douglas asked if he could learn this ability too. Rev Holmes offered Douglas the advice that "even the mightiest river begins with a single trickle, so go slowly." He graciously taught Douglas the secrets of the method, saying that in time he would be able to handle the energy that would go through him without harm. Slowly and over some time, Douglas learned how to cultivate and build up the energy, and to sense it flowing from his fingertips. He first practiced laying on of hands on the plants around the house, and then on the fish tank. To his delight, he was soon seeing the results of his experiments: the plants were responding to the energy, and the vitality and activity of the fish had noticeably improved. As his confidence in his new-found ability grew, Douglas began demonstrating spiritual healing on his friends and loved ones. On one occasion, he laid hands on a man's head and his migraine instantly disappeared. On another occasion, he laid hands on a woman and the cyst on her neck instantly vanished. Douglas had the evidence he needed to show him that what he was doing was genuine.

Douglas and Karen's experience with Rev Holmes opened them to other faith healers. They took Cheri-Anne to see a faith-healer from
Philadelphia named Kathryn Kuhlman, of whom Douglas had heard through a mutual  acquaintance. Kuhlman was said to have miraculous healing ability, and she toured North America holding "miracle services," gathering together hundreds of people in large auditoriums. When Douglas and Karen attended one such event, Cheri-Anne responded very well to the loving energy. They took her to the events several times, witnessing people receiving genuinely miraculous healings. At one gathering, Kuhlman looked into the audience and pronounced that God had promised her that in the future someone would replace her and carry on her work. Douglas had a calm sensation come over him, accompanied with the impression that he might be the replacement.
 
Along with giving DTM consultations, Douglas was soon offering spiritual healing with the Laying on of Hands method to an ever-increasing clientele. Over the years, he saw a number of dramatic examples of spontaneous and lasting healing: a woman with arthritis of the spine became able to bend over and touch her toes; a man with chronic hip and leg pain (who walked with the aid of a cane) immediately had his pain removed. For years the man wrote to Douglas on the anniversary of his healing to report that the pain had not returned "yet." Over the years, and without any promotion, Douglas continued to offer Laying on of Hands healing to those who requested relief from pain and hardship: mental, physical or spiritual. He even learned to send long-distance healing to those who could not be present. Trusting in the words of his mentor, Rev Holmes, Douglas always believed that he would never be given more than he could handle. He prayed for his healing ability to be made stronger and more effective. 

In 2003 Douglas was approached by some friends who wanted him to conduct some healing events in large public venues, similar to those Kathryn Kuhlman had done. Many years ago, Douglas had a vision of himself dressed in black, coming up the aisle of a church, out of the congregation, and standing in the pulpit. When a small church in London, Ontario expressed an interest in having Douglas perform Laying on of Hands to the congregation, Douglas was encouraged that his vision was about to come true. A short while later, Douglas was then given another vision. The Virgin Mary appeared to him in a dream to encourage him. She showed him a number of Laying on of Hands techniques which she said would allow him to perform miracles. In January of 2004 Douglas held his first Miracle Transformation Event™ at Unity Church in London, Ontario. The event included a short lecture on prayer and the law of manifestation, the singing of some hymns, and a group meditation. Then Douglas invited people from the audience to come forward to receive healing energy. Unlike the many Laying on of Hands healings he had done before, this time the energy was profound. Many members of the congregation felt as though the air was charged with electricity. As much to Douglas's surprise as those in attendance, when the energy came upon the people, they collapsed onto the floor. Douglas's friends were on hand to assist with "catching" them and easing them to the floor. At that moment, Douglas's healing ability had greatly changed.

Thus began Douglas's work as an intuitive healer. Within months, he had assembled a team of volunteers, and they began taking these miracle healing events out to other venues and other cities. Time and again, this same phenomenon of people falling and swooning under the energy has been repeated hundreds - if not thousands - of times. Those who have experienced the energy have described the sensation that comes over them in many ways: as heat or cold; others feel a tingling or buzzing; some feel pressure while others feel an electric shock or a jolt. Some people weep; some laugh. Some feel dizzy, and weak in the knees; some feel as though they momentarily lose consciousness. While still conscious, Douglas does enter a slightly altered state of consciousness - though not as deep as the state of meditation he enters during a DTM session. As he prepares to channel the energy into a person requesting a healing, his aura expands, as does his awareness. His vibration changes to one of unconditional love. He becomes acutely aware of what is going on all around him. He looks into a person and sees the body healing. He says things to them from a point of inner knowing - things that relate to their lives and conditions.Those who have been to his Miracle Transformation Events™ have seen that Douglas's hand begins to shake as the energy builds. When he is ready, he directs this life force energy through the body's energy points or chakras - primarily at the solar plexus, heart, and crown - giving an infusion of energy, which would appear to affect the nervous system, and the circulation of chi energy along the meridians. Douglas and his volunteers have witnessed many dramatic healings: a deaf man regaining his hearing; a mute woman regaining her capacity for speech; a man with Parkinson's Disease-like tremors having them disappear; a woman with a prolapsed uterus having her organs move; a man with MS being relieved of his symptoms. An Ontario newspaper reported that a woman had a lump on her neck disappear overnight after receiving a healing from Douglas. Douglas takes no credit for the miraculous, spontaneous healings that occur; he believes he is merely a conduit for God's creative healing energy. The most important healing occurs on the spiritual level. Feeling the energy enter one's body can be a truly profound experience, but the degree of healing that one receives is between that person and God Almighty.

As Douglas has said in many DTM sessions, emotions are both the creative and destructive forces in a body. As all illness is an end result of disharmony, misguided thoughts, or conditions held in the mind, it is to the mind that Douglas first appeals for healing. When Douglas focuses his mind in prayer and asks for relief on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels, he believes the energy goes into the body of the afflicted person, where it is multiplied and amplified as the mind of that person chooses. It may move to the physical body to relieve pain or tension, relax a muscle, or adjust a bone. It may move to the emotions and chase away fears, grief, self-pity and depression. Or it may go deep within and touch upon the great spirit itself. When this happens - however briefly - Douglas believes the recipient of the healing energy touches upon the part of him or her that is connected to God: the high self or contemplative mind. It first sets aside the ego or rational mind, so that the person can let down his or her guard and be open to God Almighty's grace. In doing so, it may cause the person to lose consciousness for a brief moment of time. Some have remarked that those who lay seeingly unconscious after a healing have rapid eye movement (REM) similar to Douglas in the DTM state. Only when the rational mind is quieted (during states of meditation, or sleep) is the contemplative mind allowed to move forward. Douglas believes this is why some people gasp and respond so dramatically to the healing energy at his miracle healing events - or even fall down and lay on the floor seemingly losing consciousness. The contemplative mind is so powerful it can make instant, permanent changes to a physical body at the cellular level, or even at the atomic level.
